THE HOUSE
A farmhouse from the 1500s. Thick walls, terracotta floors, exposed beams, brick fireplaces — everything the Romagna tradition asks for. But then you notice the rest: objects from every continent, furniture no one expected, collections that tell the story of a family that has been coming here since 1973 and never quite stopped unpacking. Five bedrooms and enough convivial space for large families, groups of friends, or a retreat that doesn’t feel like one. This is not the usual historic home. It just happens to be one.
THE LOFT
Next door, hidden in the garden, the loft. Built from the old tool shed, it’s a contemporary open space wrapped in glass, where concrete trusses meet warm wooden floors and you’re never quite sure if you’re in a city studio or a countryside barn. White walls, a ceramic stube, and trestle tables — all coloured by a careful mess of wicker, lace, 70s radios, Faenza ceramics, and pieces of art that arrived from everywhere and decided to stay. The loft adapts to whoever walks in: a vacation, an artist residency, a yoga retreat, a photo shoot, a wedding, or a work meeting that ends in the garden. Together with the house, or on its own.
GARDEN & POOL
The garden was built over fifty years by my parents, Anna and Cleto — starting from almost nothing, just two ancient oak trees that were already there. Today it holds olives, fruit trees of every kind, a vegetable patch, and an infinity pool that interrupts the green with a sharp stripe of blue.
Designed by people who couldn’t stop planting things, it shows. Whether you come to do nothing, to work differently, to be alone or with others — the garden tends to take over. The hills of Romagna sit quietly in the background and let it.
